SKATEBOARD INVENTION

There is uncertainty in as to the origin of the skateboard, now an Olympic event and historians have it correct that it arose in the late fifties in Southern California but not precisely who invented the skateboard and how it came to be. Furthermore, Skateboards have spawned all manner of other activities on land air and sea.

When I was growing up in the late fifties we were poor like everyone else (could not afford roller skates). So at the time only the fortunate few could skate down the hill on Ditmar Avenue, Whittier CA.

What my Dad was able to provide us kids was a garage full of tools and a workbench. So I set about to correct an injustice and in the end have a blast with my invention, the skate board, a broken skate hammered to a board!

While I was never accorded any glory for my effort I can still be happy about all the fun young people have had on their skateboards.
